My 5.5 exchange server MTA has just stopped and is reporting

A fatal database error occurred, the database recovery operation was not
successful and manual correction will be required. Details can be found in
the file: e:\exchsrvr\mtadata\.\MTACHECK.OUT\MTACHECK.LOG. Please contact
Microsoft Technical Support. [DB Server MAIN BASE 1 14] (16)
Running MTACHECK reports "database contains serious errors and cannot
automatically be repaired"
This is the first I have seen this error and there is not much in Technet on
this. Please Help.
