Since you say usermgr, I assume you're talking about 5.5 on NT4.

You need to go into the admin program, on the properties of the
configuration container, service account password tab, and change the
password there for one server in your site, then restart the services on
all servers after changing the password in usermgr.

Also, look for antivirus software that starts using the same account.
You may have to change the password for that too.

Subject: _Changing Exchange Passwords

A member if my IS team has left our company and for security purposes we
will change our administrative passwords, which includes accounts used
for "log on locally" services.

Are there any gotchas that I should look out for when changing my
exchange administrator account password? My plan is to simply log out of
any machines that my have the exchange administrator account logged in,
change the password in Usermgr, then restart services and/or reboot
servers as necessary and watch to make sure that the services start
properly.

Am I missing anything?

Thanks,

William L. Smith, MCP
Systems Administrator
