Problems accessing attachments? My first thought would be always be AV,
especially if you're running it in VAPI mode. Remember that it locks the
attachment table until it has a chance to scan the attachment, so if it's in
the middle of a scan because the attachment just came in (or in the middle
of a background scan) then no PST for you. If you are running in VAPI mode,
then also check when you are getting your AV updates. An updated DAT file
will prevent a user from accessing a previously-scanned attachment. Also
remember that restarted the IS will trigger a background scan, so you shall
be waiting on the scan after reinstalling your AV.

Neil,

Thanks for that. I'm going to reinstall our AV next week (again!) and also
check the DB's for any corruption. Shall keep you posted.

Stephanie.

AV was my other thought, but looking at your previous post, I note you have
tried stopping the AV services with no success. I remember in the early
days that sometimes disabling AV wasn't enough; sometimes a complete removal
was required.

Maybe you could install a new server (with different AV software) and move a
couple of mailboxes across, then see what happens. The only other thing I
can think of is to have a look at the stores with isinteg (without -fix
though) and see if anything is being reported.

Hi Neil,
Yes I did and I've also run it since then. MS supposedly viewed our files
through a 3rd party support company but came back with nothing. Symantec
think it's an Exchange problem! Me - I feel like a bouncy ball!

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
Stephanie.

Did you run the Performance Optimizer after applying SP4?

Hi everyone!

Can anyone tell me if they've had any problems with moving mail items with
attachments into pst's or public folders with the error messages that the
item cannot be moved/user does not have permissions to move the item. If
users try to move one item at a time it's OK, select more than one and the
problem re-occurs.

I did ask about 6 months ago and our problem is coming back!

Thanks in advance.
