Well, this is one good reason why you ALWAYS give servers static IP's.
Your mail server had a static IP. This IP was tied to your MX record for
receiving external mail.
Chances are that IP has now changed. You wont be able to get mail until
you switch it back to the old one.
DHCP is great for desktops, but never use it on a server.

since one of our 'technical' employees diddled with our lan.The network
previously used static I.P.'s, now with dynamic assignment our external
email system is down. we have our own IP addy assignment for our email
to point at. I must admit I havn't looked into it in depth myself yet,
but i don't feel all that confident that i contain the solution anyway.
This gotta fix pronto. help please
