Hello,
Does anyone know how to enable encoding on the server side? Or if
this is possible?

Hello IT.
Could any of you tell me how exchange uses the encoding option. Autodesk
doesn't get the option when sending email, to format encoding, which they
must do in order to make their japanese characters display correctly. I
realize this isn't REALLY our problem, but they don't know how.
Can someone help me with this?
I hope so ~ Thanks!
Barbara

yeah, thats right, the name itself would only be encoded. Without decoding,
it appears as random ascii chars not japanese. So, a mix in the body should
be fine, Exchange detected the part that is endoded with our test I
believe.

sure, but I mean a mix in the body. I believe the only Japanese part of
this is the name.

QA tell me its impossible to have the name (addressee) in Japanese chars.
Email addresses have to be alpha numeric. Its is the body that can have
encoding, and this is what happens with autodesk, they want to plant the
japanese chars in the body.

you know what I just thought of though? would this email be fully utf8 or
just the name? I mean is it supposed to work this way... having the name in
Japanese and the body in English?

I belive the encoding option is greyed out if there is no encoded text
detected in the body of the message, you might want to run this past IT
first however.

Francois/ Tom.
Hi guys. Remember this one? Could you just give this guy some ideas about
how to receive with the encoding, mine was greyed out too.
{email in from customer}
I see the format->encoding option greyed out when I am reading
the registration email with Japanese characters. This menu item
appear to be enabled only when I am sending a new email.
How can be enable the format->encoding option to test this?
Thank you,
Michael

Hello Michael,
Well we have successfully tested email with Japanese. You need to configure
your email message to receive these characters. Actually we went to the
format>encoding option on the email itself and this transformed the
characters to be displayed correctly.
This issue would have to be solved at your email client level. Whichever
email server you choose should have options you can adjust for display. I
am using exchange and the format> encoding works for me (on the tool bar).
As a side note, regarding your database... It appears that in order to view
unicode in Oracle you must have a special tool provided by Oracle. Linda is
aware of this I believe. The fact that you are viewing the question marks
may not be an issue.
Good Luck! Let me know if you have questions regarding this issue.
Have a good weekend,

Problem: Japanese characters are displayed as question marks in the email
sent to a user after registering(process_register.jsp) My question is:
Does the com.epicentric.components.SMTPComponent
support Unicode characters?
And my secondary question is:
What character set does WebsiteUtils.getReferrerData() use to decode the
string from the request object?
Error Message: I entered these Japanese characters for first name
and last name in register.jsp:
S-は-*OE
I got this ...
