I've found that that all of the major virus vendors do a pretty good job at notifications and updates (I think this much is in the fAQ). I've also found that using 2 or more different vendors somewhere in your detection path helps to minimize your exposure should one vendor be slow addressing a particular threat, i.e. perhaps using NAV corporate on desktops and servers and something like Sybari's Antigen on your Exchange servers - perhaps with both SOPHOS and Norman definitions.
