Hi Soysal Whilst I cannot confirm this 100%, I had a problem last year when 1 of 3 Exchange 5.5 servers in a site had SP4 applied I encountered problems connecting to the other 2 using the administration console from any workstation. Strangely the console on the server itself was fine although I had problems connecting from one server to another. Applying SP4 to the other 2 (previously SP3) machines cured this completely. I never did manage to prove the reason fully but your theory fits with the one I formed at the time. Thru all of this though, Echange itself worked fine. Hope this helps a little Regards Dom.

That would be one of the reasons why MS always recommends that you apply the SPs to the entire site when you're doing it. Can anyone confirm or deny this? In a site with many servers it may not be possible to upgrade the SP on all servers at the same time. And if there are problems, this may be most undesireable. However, you certainly should run with all servers at the same SP. So upgrade them all within as short a time frame as your business will allow. Have a contingency plan for restores of machines with different SPs. Be sure to check out the post SP hotfixes. And TEST. TEST. TEST. Upgrade the admin workstations to the latest SP of the servers first. IIRC there were issues with older SP workstations connecting to newer Sp servers. It has the correct exception error number, but the parameters are different. Also, is it only caused by large DLs? My largest is only 1542 so would this really be my problem? But I do think now is probably the time to install sp4. Will I have to install throughout the entire site or can I have just the one server on SP4? You've been a great help. The first thing I see is that you are running SP3 for Exchange and I'm seeing that SP4 is recommended to fix this. SO with that said, I would make sure you have a good backup and apply SP4. Again, check out these articles. From the sounds of them, they might very well apply to you. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q247/6/54.ASP http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q265/1/72.ASP D -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of WILLIAMS,JESSICA D Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2001 10:46 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Replication problem Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeDS Event Category: Internal Processing Event ID: 1171 Date: 10/3/2001 Time: 11:12:04 AM User: INFOSYS\ExchAdmin Computer: EXCH-SRV4 Description: Exception e0010004 has occurred with parameters -1601 and 1651 (internal ID 208017d). Once I turned up the logging, the errors started coming. I've been searching Technet, and will probably call PSS. (One of the errors actually said to do that). One question, do I need to turn up logging on more than just the problem server? Servers 1, 2, and 3 are replicating back and forth without any problems. Server 4, however, does not. It will accept changes from the other three servers, but will not replicate new mailboxes to the other three servers. I just noticed this a couple of days ago, but after digging around, discovered this has been going on since 8/27. Luckily there has only been 6 new mailboxes created on that server since then. There is nothing in the Event log that tells me there is a problem. I have successfully used RPCping. I have checked Microsoft KB, but that wasn't much help. Does anyone know of anything else I should be looking for/at or should I just call PSS?
