A better question is, will there be a next version of Exchange? Directory is stored in AD, message transfer is done by IIS and the databases are in SQL. What is left? I guess it's a good thing that most existing Exchange admins are also very well versed in AD, IIS & SQL. (where did I put that SQL book?)
