MailEssentials 5.0 has some issues if you install it on a Server where
already Norman Virus Control is installed. If you do that the original
installed NVC won't work again and even the one which is coming with ME is
not running...
And I think still in Version 5.0 it does only scan the attachment by its
name. So if you rename the attachment it will go through...
And sometimes it seems to cause bluescreens on boxes where also
ExchangeServer and NVC is running.

MailMarshal is very easy to install and to configure (as ME is too...). But
it has more options to configure. It's possible to do scans for different
domains with different rulesets. Export/Import Rulesets. Reporting, and,
and, ...
(No I'm not paid...)

Just install ME, MM, MS (MimeSweeper) and others and compare. And it depends
if you want integration in ExchangeServer or doing the scan on a separate
box. I prefer a separate box.

Good products still/sometimes cost...

Betreff: MimeSweeper vs MailEssentials

Hi

Has anyone played with MailEssentials and MimeSweeper for SMTP ?

What are your impressions ?

Are both doing about the same thing or one of those product is doing
everything the other is doing and more ?

What about Stability ?

THANKS a lot for your input.

JF
