I have seen this problem occur on our end.  It involved external POP3 users
that were VERY impatient with delivery time.  They would get a large email
in their inbox and before the message would transfer they would disconnect
and reconnect in a effort to get it to run faster.  It caused duplicate
emails to appear.

I'd like to say the fix was a firm backhand, but it wasn't.

We run an Exchange 5.5 box with SP4

Periodically and without any indication as to the cause we seem to produce
multiple emails to the same SMTP recipient - sometimes up to 100!!

Has anyone else experienced this?  If so, please help as we are unable to
track down the root cause.
