1. Yes. ADC and forestprep/domainprep are only for e2k. 2. That won't work. 5.5 on a GC cannot upgrade to e2k. See Q275127 for information.

I have one question about upgrading Exchange 5.5 (SP 4) on a Windows NT 4.0 (SP 6a) platform to Windows 2000. Is it possible to run Exchange 5.5 on Windows 2000 without preparing the Forest and the Domain and without applying the ADC? Will Exchange 5.5 run normal as if it was running on the NT 4.0 platform if you only upgrade to Windows 2000? My second questions is about Domain Mode when upgrading from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000. I am planning to upgrade a Windows NT PDC Running Exchange 5.5 to Windows 2000 with Exchange 2000. The setup will be only one Domain with one DC functioning as the only Exchange 2000 Server. Can this be done without any problem if the Domain is in mixed mode? Any advice how this can be done? Thanks allot!
