Hi all I recently upgraded my PDC to a Windows 2000 DC (W2K, SP2, Ex 5.5, SP4). There is a BDC in the same domain running NT 4.0 and Exchange 5.5 (NT 4.0, SP6a, Ex 5.5, Sp4). If I go to the W2K\Ex 5.5 machine to use Exchange Administrator, I can see everyone from both machines. If I click on the properties of the mailbox from someone on the W2K machine, everything is fine. While I am still on the W2K machine, if I go the mailbox of someone who is on the NT 4.0\Ex 5.5 machine, I can see them. If I try and get to the properties, I get an error, "The trust relationship between the primary domain and the trusted domain failed. Windows NT id no: 0xc00206fc". I'm confused because both of the servers are in the same domain. Mail is moving back and forth between the servers flawlessly, I can ping the servers by both Netbios name and FQDN. I can map drives, and basically do everything else.
The only thing I can see that might shed some light on this is the Q article Q275127 - you cannot have Exchange 5.5 running on a computer that is also a DC a Global Catalog Server. If I try to go into Active Directory properties of the server and uncheck global catalog for the W2K server, then when I try to look at any of the mailboxes on the NY 4.0 server, I cannot see anything and I get an error telling me the server cannot find the Global Catalog Server. Would someone be able to shed some light on this for me, please?? Thanks in advance for your time and insight Russell _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
