There are three types of site connectors, RPC, X.400 and SMTP. (I'm using my own terminology because the standard terminology is confusing.) Any of these three let you connect sites using the "Connected Sites" tab. For this to work, your sites must have the exact same organization name, and it is case sensitive.
You may use the SMTP or X.400 connector to connect two sites in different organizations for messaging, but you can't use the "Connected Sites" tab. Because of this, the standard directory replication and public folder replication mechanisms will not work. You can buy a third-party tool to do directory replication, like Microsoft Metadirectory Server, or Compaq LDAP Directory Synchronization Utility (LDSU). You can try using the Interorg Synch tool from the Back Office Resource Kit to replicate public folder content. Can two exchsrvrs in different Org/Site's be connected across a Site Connector (in place of IMC or x.400)? I've not seen phrasing in MS WP's that states this cannot be done, though my testing seems to indicate it cannot. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
