DomainPrep creates groups.  ForestPrep extends the schema.  You need the ADC
before either, if you ever want your new implementation to speak to the
current one.

I was under the impression that all /domainprep does is extend the schema,
and does not need to speak to an exchange server to do so. afterall, if you
were doing a fresh install, there would be no need for ADC, yet you still
have to run /forest and /domainprep, ya?
