Gavin,

I've had first hand experience with DPT Raid controllers and -1018
errors.

I have performed many tests in the lab and have discovered that when
ever a SQL database or an Exchange 5.5 DB gets over 5Gb, the RAID
controller miss-handles commits to the database. After much frustration
and anger ( working with PSS ) I trashed the controllers and went with
Mylex. The obvious problem I had was repairing that database. You
must make 2 things the most important thing in your life

1) Get new RAID controllers, pref. In a new server

2) Move your mailbox data to the new server. Use the Ed Crowley Move
method described in the FAQ's.

You can mail me off-line if you like to discuss the problems you are
having, as I said I've had lots of experience in exactly the environment
you describe.

Anybody with DPT Raid controllers should consider the potential problems
described here.

By 1018 do you mean a -1018?

First thing I'd do is check the system log for SCSI errors. Dollar to a
doughnut your RAID controller is heading south.
