Ive added an E2K server to my 5.5 SP4 site, all seemed ok, no install errors, E2K has SP1 & Q303451.
I can send an email from a mailbox created on the E2K server to a mailbox on the 5.5 servers and also to the internet via the IMC on one of the 5.5 servers. If I send an email to the E2K mailbox I get an NDR, recipient not known, from any source. Also, when the email is delivered to the 5.5 servers, the display name is shown in the FROM field is as per display name in the AD. When it passes through the 5.5 IMC, it looks like a raw name. There are no error messages in any event log.
