Hi,

we have a 'standalone' 5.5 (latest updates) running under NT 4 SP 5. It is
backed up with an external Streamer and NT-Backup. Clients are mostly
Outlook 2000 on win2k.

A few weeks ago the harddisk with the mdbdata and the dsadata directory
crashed. I was able to read the data on a different machine after freezing
the harddisk:) Because the Data seemed to be more up to date I decided to
try to restore the 'offline' data from the crashed hard disk. It did not
work:(

So I decided to restore the data from tape. After deleting some log files I
could start Exchange again and now it is still up and running.

But now the Tape-Backup of the private folders is not working anymore. In
the event log I get an error message like (sorry, translated from german):
call from BackupPrepare() responded with error: 'the log is not active'.

Logging was set to active with the Exchange Administrator. To test I deleted
log files which where not uses since the restore. And I used the eseutil and
tried to repair the db. Nothing worked.

Anyone any idea what is wrong now?

elm

(sorry for the bad english... it is getting better;)
