It's not that simple.  In fact, what you want isn't simple in Exchange 5.5,
though it is easier than Exchange 2000.  Active Directory has some nice
features, but CSV exports aren't among them.  You should probably learn
scripting and ADSI.  You can do cool stuff with that, especially with the
stuff Sigfried has posted at this site, http://www.cdolive.com, plus the
samples on MSDN.

How can I export the GAL? All I really need is to be able to export a
list of users and their smtp addresses.

This is probably simple but I can not find anything on how to do this.
Probably a matter of searching on the wrong information.
