I assume you're joining an existing site. What you need to do is to look at
the App log on the server that you use to specify which site you want to
join.
A wild guess at what might have happened. You installed this test server
with the Notes connector. When you installed the Notes connector, it
created an address generator in the site. Then you removed the server with
the connector. Now that you're trying to add a new server to the site, the
new server recognizes that there is a non-default address generator defined
in the site. It tries to locate the server that has the necessary DLLs.
Since you've removed that, it can't locate those DLLs and gives you that
error. If this is indeed the case, you will see an error in the Application
log of the server you're pointing to to join the site. The description of
the error will contain the name of the DLL that's missing. At that point
you have two options:
1 - Install the Notes connector temporarily on another server in the
site.
2 - Start Exchange admin in raw mode and delete the address
generator.
I would go with the first one since you have the potential to do great
damage to your Exchange directory via option 2, if you make a mistake.
Of course, if I'm wrong, pardon the long email.

Subject: ID c1030ad0 - Cannot find correct version of file.
Hi,
I'm having trouble installing Exchange 5.5 and am getting the above error
message. I have no idea what file (or version) Exchange setup is looking
for. I've tried searching the kb, but no luck on the specific id, and other
searches seem to be too general (some looked promising, but turned out not
relevant). The error message says to look in the event log for further
details, but there's nothing (seemingly) relevant there.
The situation is as follows:
Building a 'dirsync' server to export our GAL into a notes db Have tested
and things seemed to be working fine. Cleaned machine (complete fresh
install) and connected to net Now I'm getting the above error - during
testing it allowed me to install ok.
I am connecting to an existing Exch 5.5 sp3 site (which succeeded
previously).
Any help/pointers in right direction would be appreciated. Keith
Oh, nearly forgot, OS is W2k (with SP1, & also with SP 2). Existing site is
NT4.0 SP6a.
