Been a while since I wrote LDAP queries and I'm over medicated at the moment, but doesn't the query below say give me objects which are both users and groups whose UPN and display name is *@company.com? If so, I think the problem might be that you want to ask for users OR groups. It seems you are searching for objects which are both, and they are mutually exclusive.
