Make sure you turn off the 5.5 server first, without doing all the removal procedures,
and test everything, especially Public Folders. I was sure I had moved the Public
Folders and did not test, but some did not replicate and I had to do a restore, and
export to PST's then import to Public Folders. Wish I had tested a little more....

Subject: Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000

I have an Exchange 5.5 site to which I joined an Exchange 2000 server.
The mailboxes have been moved and clients all hooked up to the E2K.
The Public folders are all based off of the new server, and no
replication between the 5.5 and 2K servers is taking place.

The Exchange 5.5 server is effectively unused - a drone.

I want to dis-entangle the 5.5 server from the site.
My plan: Un-install the 5.5 server, and convert the site to native mode.
Then remove the computer from the domain and redeploy it.
I don't need the server, so upgrading is out [it's a 266 MHz].

Will this work ??
