I have a client who is using ArcServer 2000. Exchange 2000 backups working
correctly for the Production Exchange server however I cannot seem to get
the Scratch Restore to work.
If you do not know what a scratch restore is please do not respond.
Here is the setup:
Exchange 2000 server SP1 (2 configured with same Org name and
storage group names ... separate forests)
One-way trust between Production and Scratch (Scratch trusts Prod)
.... Privileged accounts in both
Scratch server to allow "database overwrite by restore" and stores
are dismounted
Agent - ArcServer2000 (SP2)
When I try the restore from the production Exchange 2000 server to the
Scratch server I get an error "E8562 - Failed to receive data from database
agent". The only references to this error on the CA support site point to
networking difficulties between the servers however I know that I have
connectivity over netbios and ip.
Also, if I restore using NTBackup everything works as expected.
PS: Please also do not tell me to use BackupExec .... this is not an
option.
