Ahem... <grumbles something about having useful information upfront>
The SMTP connector in 2K is derived from the IIS package. That SMTP connector never did have a console mode. I would consider that a silent feature cut that was unintentional. I don't recall it ever coming up as a "gotta-have" way back when this was being talked about.
