Actually I really enjoy these old problems making news later on. It gives people like us a chance to prove our god-like nature. I really love it when the boss sees an old virus alert on CNN, runs to me in panic and I tell him "Oh that, yeah I knew about that for so many months and installed the necessary patches so many months ago. We've nothing to worry about". The look on their face is so priceless. It's also quite an easy way to earn some points for your appraisal.
