Actually that is incorrect. The latest version of SM does ESE based scanning
only. That would be version 3.8
Version 3.52 was the last to do AVAPI. They still keep it up on their site.
There are some other significant improvements in 3.8 as well. Such as you
can no longer change the extension on a blocked file and fake the scanner.
The following are the new features of ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange 3.8:
o Trend ScanMail eManager content filtering, anti-spam plug-in.
eManager is an optional plug-in product that you can
install once you have installed ScanMail for Exchange.
ScanMail eManager works with ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange
to reject spam mail bound for users of the corporate LAN.
In addition, eManager provides a content filter that allows
you to check inbound mail for contents considered to be offensive
or otherwise objectionable.
o Manual Scan and Scheduled Scan now use ESE technology for scanning.
o Supports true file format scanning and blocking in Real-time Scan.
o Attachment Blocking now supports the wildcard characters "*" and
"?". These characters can now be used when specifying file names
or extensions of attachments to be blocked.
o Ability to completely delete outbound MAPI mail and attachments if
they are found to be infected.
o Improved manual scanning; now faster and uses multi-threaded
memory scanning.
