There are ways to force all mail between users on a server to go through
the MTA. It's part of setting up message archival. But your
performance will be punished.

Here it is...you owe me one.

That won't work for all users on the server. The messages sent between
users on the same server do not hit the MTA and therefore are not
affected by the limits you set at the MTA. In order to achieve what he
wants, he has to set the limits at the mailbox level.

If you highlight the server and click on MTA you will see a Message Size
limit which should apply to all users on the server.

No, you need to do it at the mailbox level. Simplest way to do it is to
do a directory export, manipulate the CSV in Excel, and import it back.
Then modify your template user as well so the new users created also
have the same limits.

Good afternoon,

OUTLOOK 98. Exchange 5.5 SP4.

How can I limit the size of message inside our organization? I know I
can limit the size of messages bound to and from the Internet but how do
I limit the size for in house eMAILs? On the Limits tab I see Message
Sizes incoming and out going and I hope this is where I do this. Is
there a global setting where all users are restricted equally?

Happy holidays.

Regards,

Dustin,

Search your archives or the archives listed at the bottom of every
message for "Limiting size of messages", dated 12/20/01 - 12/21/01.

Serdar answered that question very succinctly in that thread.

So...

Just to clarify...What you're asking is, "Is there any way to limit the
size of the message/attachments that people within my own organization
can send to each other?" You're not asking about messages going out
through the IMS, correct?

Hi there...

Is there a way to limit message sizes that are outgoing, but only when
the destination is an internal address (of the same domain)?

  Dustin
