I've running Exchange 5.5 service pack 3, 2 servers in a single site. The 2 servers are connected together via an OC3, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue. One of my servers occasionally stops responding. None of the services stop, they just stop responding. The only indication I've found that this is occuring is a couple of events 1186 that show up in the application log. I checked Technet and the only articles I found that appeared to be related are Q240385 & Q246276. I don't think Q240385 is applicable because we should have plenty of bandwidth available between the 2 servers. Q246276 just says to restart the server. FWIW, the server that this keeps happening on also has gateways for FaxSr & Avaya Unified Messenger installed on it.
