You only need to connect to an Appletalk Server if you are using Appletalk as your communications medium. Personally, I use TCPIP since it is cleaner, and less chatty. You are correct in that you do need to log into a Windows NT domain which you setup within the Exchange/Outlook settings Control Panel. The hosts file is a must for TCPIP communications.
