I had a similar problem. I bought some new Compaq ram for my server approximately 512. After I installed it everything went well until the next day when the server lost network connection and locked up. So I just rebooted the server and it went back online but the same thing happened the next day. I did the same thing but this time put all my backups on the server on hold and there seems to be no problems anymore. The only thing I have to do is test my backups over the weekend to verify if this is causing the problem or if its the memory.
