Since you are using the term "Storage Group", I am assuming that you are talking about Exchange 2000. If that's the case, you have to restore to a server that is on a complete different AD Forest. So, NO, your set up will not allow you to test the restore.

I did a restore on the exchange database to another server. I restored successfully and I was able to mount the Storage Group. The Production Server and the Test server are on the same site, both using the same Domain Controller. Will I have to delete an account to test it? Or can I associate My mailbox to the Storage group on the other server without moving the mailbox?
