I have a failed upgrade from exchange 5.5 to 2000 because my 5.5
Organization name is different from the 2000 org name. I would like to
remove the 2000 org from active directory.
Towards that end, I installed a Dc and an Exchange 5.5 machine to my working
Domain, and then broke them off to a test network. The DC has seized all
FSMO roles in the test domain. I ran an export with ldifde.exe and can
view the entries with the incorrect org name. Then using adsiedit, I deleted
anything (in several stages) in AD that I could see that had top do with
exchange.
I then ran forestprep, it did not ask for any existing Orgs (should it?)
When I set up an ADC recipient connection with my exchange 5.5 server, the
only Exchange Recipient Containers available was the original bad exchange
Org.
If I do select that recipient container, it will only complete the
connection as an Intra-Organizational Agreement. I cannot upgrade my 5.5
server because the 2000 site is different from the 5.5 site.
Where does AD keep this information? How can I get rid of this Exchange 2000
Organization?
