I suspect you're trying to join the existing site when you install Exchange;
you need to create a new server in a new organisation and site where you
keep the names identical; I presume you've isolated a domain controller and
can install exchange under the same user as your original server. Once
installed, restored and connected on your isolated lan segment the two
servers should 'bond' and behave as your original servers in your original
site.

When I restored the ist server in the site's prib/pub and dir, it added the
other servers into the server list. Now, I'm trying to add ex to one new
box using the same servername, etc. as one of the servers already in the
site... that way I can restore the
databases to it...

I'm building a test lab for ex 5.5 migration to E2K. I've already
restored my first server in the site with it's same name, etc. to
mirror out production site. The other servers are still listed in the
site - so when I try to rejoin the site it will not let me without
removing the server from the site.

If I remove the server name, will it delete all my entries in the
dir.edb for that server?

Ron
