Hes not trying to do Brick Level Backups. If he can check the Info and Directory store boxes underneath the backup tree, then he has sufficient permissions to back up the store. I do agree with you on restarting the BE service however.

Works fine doing file-level backups but when I create a job to backup Exchange 5.5 SP4 it gives "directory not responding" and "store not responding" yet all Exchange services are up and running, merrily servicing clients. I tried adding the backupexec service account to org, site and config as service account but no change. Both MS' and Veritas websites are no help.
