Hey Tony,

I fought with this same issue for a few weeks (even called MS support but it
didn't help) I figured it out when I accidently did it myself. It happens
when you CTRL-Click the messages to highlight them (usually to mark them as
read). Because you are clicking in rapid succession it is very easy to drag
the mouse instead of a clean click. Because you are holding the mouse
button down while you do this, it duplicates every item that you had
hightlighted.

You can easily find the duplicates by adding the "Changed By" field to the
view and you'll see it will be different in most cases from the sender.

The other thing that we did to easily identify who made the duplicates is to
change the setting on the folder so that dragged and dropped items are
forwarded instead of copied. (can't remember the exact wording -- offline
now...)

Hope this helps.

Subject: Duplicate messages public folder

Hi Everyone,

I'm having an odd thing happen. Posts to one of our public folders will
show up twice. This does not happen consistently. There may be one or
half a dozen "duplicates" on one day then no duplicates for several days.
This doesn't look like any sort of user error. I haven't found any kb
articles that have been of any help. I'd appreciate any suggestions that
you folks might have.

I've got Exchange 5.5 SP4 and run Outlook 98 as the client.

Thanks

Tony
