Hi Many thanks for that. Did all those steps on a test environment, apart from steps #19 and #20, instead of which powered off the old server. The clients are unable to connect to their mailboxes using Outlook 2000.

We are planning to upgrade that server to a better one. This new server _will_ have the same name as the old one. I want to use the Swing method of moving the Exchange Users between servers. Steps: Old server X 1. Introduce new server Y, join domain, make it a DC. 2. Install E2k on server Y. Move mailboxes etc. Rehome PF F/B etc 3. Remove the 1st Exchange server from server X. <===== Help here. article on how.?? 4. Transfer all 5 roles etc to Server Yswitch off server X; (demote server X first ??) 5. Build new server X, join domain, make a DC, change roles to here 6. Install E2k on server X, move every thing back to it. Wait a day. 7. Do step 4. All software that was on old server X is also installed on server Y and then back onto new server X. (E2k, IIS5, SQL2k,) Anybody do this before. ? Do you have any comments on this. ? Are there any documentation available on the correct procedures. ? TIA Raji Arulambalam Systems Administrator Bay of Plenty REGIONAL Council P O Box 364 Whakatane.
