Heather, A basic tool comes with the NT Backoffice resource kit that supplies a version of Crystal reports (4.5 old!!) but with sample reports that give A) the records your interested in B) basic server summary of Email transferred in/transferred out/ local delivery and they can be used in a new version (8.5 standard for example).
Cheers Paul Standards are like toothbrushes, everybody agrees you should have one, but no one wants to use yours -----Original Message----- From: Chris Scharff [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 17 April 2002 04:25 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: performance monitoring To get that kind of information from Exchange requires analysis of the message tracking logs and possibly the IMS archival logs depending on the granualrity of data you desire. Q173280 and Q173364 contain information on the tracking log format and event ID meanings. For a single server organization, parsing them and using a tool like Access (or perl) to report on them is relatively straightforward. http://www.swinc.com/resource/scripts.htm has a couple of scripts which do similar things for E2K, there might be something to be gained by looking at them. -- Chris Scharff MessageOne -----Original Message----- From: Heather Bellson To: Exchange Discussions Sent: 4/16/2002 7:43 PM Subject: performance monitoring I'm trying to determine how many messages/day are delivered to local recipients from local recipients, as compared to how many messages are delivered from internet recipients to local recipients and vice versa. I'm taking my first dive into performance monitoring and I'm a little overwhelmed with how many different "counters" there are, and each report different numbers for what appears to me to be the same thing, with no apparent pattern. I never imagined there'd be so much to choose from! Can any of you give me some guidance on the counters I should add to performance monitor to get some kind of meaningful data? Or even a good reference for performance monitoring in exchange? fyi, exchange 5.5 sp4, nt4 sp6a, single mail server site. Thanks for your time, Heather _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ********************************************************************************************** The information contained in this message or any of its attachments may be confidential and is intended for the exclusive use of the addressee(s).
