Our University has about 13,000 students and 2500 faculty/staff. We run an Exchange 2000 cluster on two quad Dells (700Mhz Zeon) on the back end and two 1-U Dell web servers for OWA. CLARiiON SAN for disk storage.
Active Directory is on two separate domain controllers. Students use OWA, faculty/staff use a combination of Outlook 2002 or POP3/IMAP clients while on campus, OWA off. If you follow the sizing guidelines, you may be surprised. But we checked with several other universities roughly the same size and they run comfortably with this same configuration. Clustering is great for maintenance and reliability. We don't have to wait for 4:00am Sunday morning to apply security hotfixes, etc. Bryan Schneider MN State University, Mankato -----Original Message----- From: Sabo, Eric [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2002 10:23 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Clustered Environment We are running an active/active cluster. Right now, we are having problems with Trendmicro Antivirus software not releasing the cluster resources but we are working to resolve this. Other than that it has been stable.
