Hi there I actually ran into this problem, and here is how I found out about it and fixed it:
See if you can print any of these emails. If you can't see them, but you can print them out, then there is a problem with HTML emails. Here's the kicker: Outlook pulls HTML in from IE. I had one user cancel an upgrade on his IE, and he was having the exact problem described. I reinstalled IE, and everything was fine.
