Hi guys, I have an inheritted a problem at a site where we cannot download the offline address book and "task Microsoft Exchange server reported error ox800401f the operation failed' is generated. Naturally, I have looked this up on Technet and when I followed the article Q235898 which talks about checking the properties tab of the Public folders on the server and clicking the instances tab. However, there is no OAB Version 2 or Offline Address Book listed included on this information store and regretably these are not listed in the Public Folders section.
I have tried to generate all on the DS Site Configuration/Offline Address Book tab but this yields the following error 'An error occurred while generating the offline Address Book. To view details,see the application event log in the Windows NT Event Viewer on the offline Address Book Server. Microsoft Exchange Administrator ID no. c1031662 In addition, the following event appears in the event log: Event ID: 5004 Description: Generation of the offline Address Book is complete. Result: An error occurred. Again, the most relevant articles refer to the fact that there is no OAB in the instances tab of the Public Folders. We currently have a single server 5.5 Build 1960.5. However I know that in the past there has been other servers in the site and my theory is that it wasn't the first server in the site. Exchange is running reasonably well. Is there any way that I can re-generate the off-line address book?
