I have a brand new installation of a Forest, with two Domain Controllers in
the same lone domain. DNS is successfully configured on one of the servers
and I'm attempting to install Exchange 2000 on the other.

Running ForestPrep, gave me this error: "Either you do not have permission
to update the Active Directory schema or Active Directory service is
currently too busy."

Since I was logged in as administrator, that could not be correct. I
doublechecked that the admin was a member of Administrators, Domain
Administrators and Enterprise Administrators. Looking at Technet, I found
Q274196 which said I had to start the Remote Registry Service. When I
looked, it was already started.

Rebooted and then was able to successfully run ForestPrep. When I tried to
run DomainPrep, I got this error: "Setup has detected that ForestPrep has
not been run on this machine. Please run ForestPrep before attempting to run
DomainPrep in this domain. For more information please see the installation
documentation." Found Q287576 and followed the advice about looking in the
registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Setup). Sure
enough it was not there. Looking on the harddrive in the path I pointed
Exchange to when I ran ForestPrep shows no files.

I reran ForestPrep, and it says it ran successfully, yet the same thing is
happening - no files in the path and DomainPrep cannot run.

Any suggestions?
