And only sometimes? Try increasing the allowable message hop count on your smtp virtual server. Delivery > Advanced > Maximum hop count. Then go get yourself a nice cold extract of hops as presented by your brewer of choice. -tom -----Original Message----- From: Stein, Mr. Fred [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Posted At: Monday, July 22, 2002 8:01 PM Posted To: MSExchange Mailing List Conversation: NDR's Subject: RE: NDR's Tom This is what has been done. Most mail is forwarded properly, but some mail coming from this listserve and others are not delivered and I get the NDR. I created a custom recipient and directed the email coming to a mailbox to an alternate recipient (new custom recipient) and the recipient. I am getting NDR's with "A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients. Contact your administrator. <hermes.thehill.org #4.4.6>" This is only the email that is redirected to the custom recipient. I have tried everything mentioned in Q270143. Nothing seems to help. We have 3 Exchange servers running Win2k SP2 and Exchange2k SP2, all are bridgehead servers forwarding mail to the ISP's relay host. Any ideas?
