Do you still have the Lotus Notes client on the machine? You may have much better luck adding Notes as a service to your Exchange profile, and then copying the messages from one place to the other while in Outlook.

I was successful to see the emails and users defined folders in Outlook 2002 but when I tried to read the email there was nothing inside.
