Is it possible your 'hate' is really with people who are too stupid or lazy to properly manage their subscriptions to mailing lists? If you sent me a mail message directly and received an OOF reply, would you really hate being notified that I'll be out of the office this Wednesday? If so, try not to send me any email that day, because I'll be out and my OOF will be on.
