Anyone having problems with IE 5.5 intermittantly working with OWA 2000? By intermittant, I mean works fine on machine A, but machine B (which seems to be configured the same) hangs during connection (you get the folder pane, but no owa icon bar and no messages).
Here's the specifics: OWA works fine from my office, works fine from my house with Roadrunner connection. Using Windows 98/I.E 5.5 with all critical updates and such. 5 other folks are using it from home, all claim to have IE 5.5 but I can't be absolutely sure (owa logs do show they are using 5.5) Boss (jeff) tries it from his house. He has DSL, Win2000 and I.E. 5.5. Only had the system 2 weeks, hasn't had time to muck it up with other software. Can surf the web with no problems. Tries to get into OWA. Just halfway shows up. Gets the left pane with "his user name" and "public folders" but basically system just hangs. He lets it go for 5 minutes and still nothing. In fact, IE has locked up. Uses task manager to shut down IE and can't even surf the web anymore. Reboots. Can surf the web fine, but when he goes to the OWA server same thing. Boss calls me at home. We try pinging server and such. Everything ok. He even (gasp) gives me his password has me try at my house. Works fine at my house! He's got DSL, so I have him upgrade to IE 6. 15 minutes later he's up and running, and logs into OWA just fine! hooray! Other boss (Renee) tries it from her house. She has roadrunner, Win98, IE 5.5. New install. Just took the system home Friday night. Win98, office 2k, ie 5, all critical updates. No other software, no downloads, etc. Surfs the web just fine. Goes to OWA server, enters name and password and domain. NADA. Same as first boss. Now, the obvious solution is to have her upgrade to IE6. But, it's working just fine on my 5.5 and about 6 other users with 5.5. And upgrading ALL of our users to IE6 won't be fun 'cuz a bunch of them ONLY have dialup! Neither of these systems had non-default security settings in IE 5.5. I've downloaded the OWA 2000 troubleshooting manual (23 pages) but don't really see anything that jumps right out. Any suggestions?
