What if you do an offline defrag of the stores and then clear all the log files including edb.chk? Maybe there is something in one of the logfiles that is causing you grief.

I would tend to think that the "multi service packs status" can cause some system funnies. Sander -----Original Message----- From: Olivier de Heer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 15 August 2002 09:29 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: [HP OmniBack] "The log is not active" Dear all, Last Saturday we did upgrade an Exchange 5.5 cluster to SP4. After a reboot the server crashed and we had to restore the information store using HP OmniBack. (priv.edb & pub.edb back to sp3, all other Exchange files stayed sp4) >From that time every backup fails with the following message: [Major] From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] "MSExchange" Time: 8/14/02 10:40:48 PM [153:9] Connect to Exchange Server failed. [Critical] From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] "MSExchange" Time: 8/14/02 10:40:48 PM A system or BackOffice error has occurred. Exchange Server reported error number: 0xc8000204. Message: 'The log is not active.'. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance, Olivier _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
