Exchange 5.5 SP4, NT 4.0 SP 6A

Ok before I get flamed I am pretty sure I understand the Outlook logon
process, in that by default it uses DNS to resolve the name of the Exchange
server for Outlook to logon. Once this is found it will then authenticate
the mailbox against the NT domain. Here is my question, I have a small
number of random users, about 20 out of 8000, that experience Outlook
hanging at logon. This doesn't always happen i.e. we can go for several days
without any problem, then we start getting calls again, it will be
completely random, hardly ever effecting the same user twice. Nslookup can
resolve the name of the server and it can be successfully pinged. My hunch
is therefore is it maybe a authentication issue. So here is my question is
their anyway to log Outlook as it logs on, or can I use any other MAPI tool
to logon to test the logon process of the affected mailbox to the server.

TIA

Paul
