More importantly, it's very hard to determine if it does work.  You have
to fail it over to tell, and do it enough times to be sure that it'll
really work when you do need it.  That is, it might work five times you
test it, and then when the real event occurs, the database is corrupt.
In addition, it's hard to test because putting together a test
infrastructure is itself very costly.

I agree based on theory, but have not implemented it myself. The product
being considered is Mirror View to go with an EMC SAN/  Chris, the
reason DoubleTake is not an option is based on the understanding that
the replication is a "best effort" process and is not guaranteed.
According to EMC, Mirror View is confirmed replication between sites.

The bottom line, though, is that if this doesn't work, then it's not
worth the huge chunk of money they are asking for it.
