I have seen weird behavior on Win98/Outlook 2000 clients where they would not connect
to Exchange server unless DNS was configured correctly on those Win98 machines.

Subject: Outlook 2000 - Exchange 2000 - VPN problem

My setup:

Single box / Win2k Server (PDC), Exchange 2000, ISA and RAS.

All my users VPN into this box to connect Outlook 2000 to Exchange.

Currently all my users connect fine through VPN.

My XP users get server unavailable when they start Outlook. They can
press retry and sometimes after pressing it many times, it will actually
connect.
My Win9x users do not have this problem. They press retry once and it is
connected.
My Win2k users usually don't have the XP problem, they usually only have
the press the retry once.

Any Ideas?
