Reducing the MTU on the client might be a good start. Try something around
1400.

Subject: a bit OT: My DSL modem+D-Link router+OWA - weird things
Importance: High

So I recently got DSL with BellSouth. I also got me a D-Link router.

The DSL modem is also a router and a DHCP server. It gives out IP addresses
in 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.100 range.

D-Link grabs 192.168.1.1 from DSL modem.

D-Link in turn is also a router and a DHCP server. It gives out IP addresses
in 192.168.0.100-192.168.0.152 range.

My PC is plugged into the D-Link and grabs 192.168.0.100 from the D-Link.

So I have such a daisy chain.

It works fine for browsing the Internet. I have no problem connecting to
Exchange 2000 Outlook Web Access which is sitting on a public IP. I have no
problem composing and sending short messages. But the weird stuff starts
happening if I reply or forward a message - I put the recipients names in, I
can even click on check names, I can use the address book search, but when I
click on the Send button, the Send button and all other buttons in the
toolbar turn grey and stay like that for a few minutes. Then they turn
normal again but the message never gets sent. What's up with that? Any
ideas?

I have tried disabling DHCP service on the DSL modem and assigning a static
IP to D-Link. Didn't help.

P.S. I can make everything work by turning D-Link to use Dynamic PPPoE right
through the DSL modem. It kind of overrides the modem's PPPoE (the modem
becomes a mere medium, converter from phone jack to RJ45).
