Setup - MS Exchange 5.5 SP4 to MS Exchange 2000 SP3 migration
Currently we have migrated two out of five sites and for the most part
everything is working fine. However, we do have one issue that is giving me
a headache. We have roughly a dozen DG's (setup as Universal Distribution
Groups) homed on the same site, that we cannot send mail to. These are
restricted lists but even those personnel with permissions cannot send to
the DG. They get the error below:
========================================================
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: Test email - please delete
Sent: 12/20/02 9:11 AM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
# DIST GROUP NAME on 12/20/02 9:11 AM
The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient
moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the
address. Check the address and try again.
<servername.domainname.com #5.1.7>

Has anyone out there seen this error before. If so any clue as to what is
causing this? From what research I have done the 5.1.7 DNS code refers to
a "bad sender's mailbox address" and we have found some other articles which
refer to a bad mail attribute although the error doesn't mention which
attribute is messed up.
Could this be an indication that the DG did not get migrated properly?
Would it be best to simply recreate the DG and move on?
Any suggestion would be helpful.
TIA
